Datacenter Design & Build
Physical and logical datacenter architecture designed for availability, segmentation, and compliance from day one. Whether you're building a new control center or modernizing an aging server room, we design and build environments that meet NERC CIP requirements and support the convergence of IT and OT workloads.
How we approach every datacenter project
Every engagement follows a structured methodology, from requirements through handoff, adapted to your facility, workloads, and compliance posture.
Requirements Analysis
We meet with your IT, operations, and leadership teams to understand current workloads, growth projections, compliance requirements, and budget constraints. Every design starts with a clear picture of what the facility needs to support, today and five years from now.
Physical & Logical Design
Our engineers produce complete rack layouts, cable pathway designs, and logical network architectures. We plan for proper separation of IT and OT workloads, sufficient port density, and clear physical access boundaries that satisfy NERC CIP requirements.
Environmental Planning
Power distribution, UPS sizing, generator integration, precision cooling, and environmental monitoring are designed as a unified system. We calculate heat loads, plan airflow, and ensure redundancy at every tier, from utility feeds to individual rack PDUs.
Implementation
SkyHelm manages the full buildout, rack installation, structured cabling, power deployment, equipment mounting, and labeling. We coordinate with electricians, HVAC contractors, and your internal team to keep the project on schedule and on budget.
Testing & Certification
Every cable is tested and certified. Power failover is validated end-to-end. Cooling capacity is verified under load. We don't hand off a facility until every system has been proven under real-world conditions.
Handoff & Documentation
Your team receives complete as-built documentation, rack elevations, cable schedules, power maps, network diagrams, and operational procedures. We train your staff on day-two operations and remain available for ongoing support.
What we deliver
Server Room & Datacenter Layout
Complete facility design from floor plan to rack elevation, optimized for airflow, cable management, and physical access control in facilities of every size.
Rack Planning & Deployment
Detailed rack layouts with power budgets, weight calculations, and equipment placement designed for efficient cooling and easy maintenance access.
Power & Cooling Design
UPS sizing, PDU layout, generator integration, precision cooling, and hot/cold aisle containment. Redundancy designed to match your uptime requirements.
Structured Cabling
Fiber and copper plant design, pathway planning, patch panel layouts, and cable management systems that stay organized as your environment grows.
Physical Security
Access control, camera placement, mantrap design, and visitor management systems that meet NERC CIP physical security perimeter requirements.
Logical Network Design
Core, distribution, and access layer architecture with proper segmentation between IT, OT, management, and guest networks from the ground up.
Virtualization & Storage Architecture
VMware, Hyper-V, and storage platform design, SAN, NAS, and hyperconverged, sized for your workloads with built-in capacity for growth.
Redundancy Design
N+1 or 2N redundancy across power, cooling, and network paths. We design for the failure scenarios that matter, not just the ones that look good on paper.
The right team for your datacenter project
Built for Critical Infrastructure
We've designed and built server rooms and datacenters for organizations across the country, from single-rack closets to full control center facilities. We understand the budget realities and the compliance requirements.
New Builds & Modernization
Whether you're building a new facility or modernizing an aging server room that's outgrown its original design, we bring the same engineering rigor. No project is too small or too complex.
Hands-On Implementation
We don't hand you a design document and walk away. Our engineers manage the full buildout, racking, cabling, power, cooling, and commissioning, and stay until every system is tested and operational.
NERC CIP Physical Security
Every design accounts for NERC CIP physical security requirements from the start, access control, monitoring, logging, and visitor management built into the facility architecture, not bolted on after the fact.
